Actions Semiconductor Co., Ltd is one of China’s leading fabless semiconductor companies that designs, develops and markets integrated platform solutions, including SoCs, firmware, software development tools and reference designs for manufacturers of portable media players and smart handheld devices, including tablets. We provide integrated platform solutions to tablet and portable media player manufacturers, brand owners and value-added distributors that enable them to accelerate the time-to- market for their products.    

Our integrated platform solution approach provides a high level of value for our customers and creates a successful business model for us.  We seek to extend our market leadership in SoC products and platform solutions for the development of tablet and portable media players by investing in technology development, extending our network of independent software developers and value-added distributors, incorporating high-end features into products for the mass-market and improving the functionality-to-price ratio of our products.

Our product portfolio is comprised of three categories:  Portable Audio, Portable Video, and, Mobile Internet Device/Tablet.  Actions’ established its market leadership position in the portable audio market with SoC products for portable media players.   From there, we successfully expanded into the portable video market.  Today, Actions has a dominant market share in both the portable audio and video product segments, which include mobile video and gaming.  Actions continues to gain market share in the advanced high definition portable video market, as well as the automotive audio and boom box market.  Our newest product category, SoCs for tablets, is gaining traction and represents the strongest potential. The tablet industry, especially the entry-level segment, is increasingly centered in China.  Tablets manufactured by China-based manufacturers are often rebranded and sold across the world by importers, retailers, and consumer electronics companies.

As of December 31, 2012, Actions held 139 issued patents and had 123 pending patent applications and 21 registered layout designs and registered computer software copyrights.  In addition, Actions owned 83 registered trademarks and had 14 pending trademark applications.

Actions’ management team is comprised of technology veterans from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Silicon Valley with deep industry knowledge and several years of successful IC design and product development.  Currently, Actions has over 600 employees, with developers comprising 75% of the Company’s total workforce.   Actions is ranked first in population, project experience and product quality within the IC design industry in China.  The company is headquartered in the coastal city of Zhuhai, China, with offices in Shanghai and Shenzhen.
